Leveled offers a variety of CNC machining services including milling, turning, and cutting. Due to its precision and efficiency, we are able to bring your ideas to life more quickly and cost-effectively than traditional machining methods — and can do so at tighter tolerances for parts of all sizes. What is CNC Machining?

CNC (computer numerical control) machining is a machining process that is controlled by a computer. The nuances of this type of process allow for very complex parts to be made faster and more precisely than traditional machining.

A part is designed and programmed by CAM software. This 3d model defines how to produce this 3d object into a real one and directs the CNC machines on how to move and subtract material from a solid block to create the desired part.

CNC Turning

During CNC turning a lathe rotates a solid material held to the main spindle, from which the tool removes material from until the desired part remains. There are times when a component requires milling as well, at which point the machine can be stopped to allow for this.

CNC Milling

CNC milling easily gets around issues of traditional milling methods and more efficiently, and cost-effectively, produces highly complex parts that are far more reliable. Not only is CNC milling more effective, but it allows for working with less-traditional materials than metals, like wood, stone, nylon and some plastics.

CNC Plasma Cutting

At its most basic level, plasma cutting uses ionized gas at temperatures up to 40,000 degrees to cut through conductive materials. Leveled provides CNC plasma cutting services using dual-head 4-axis equipment which can produce hefty components with tight tolerances. Materials we work with include, but are not limited to aluminum, stainless steel, and various alloys.

Electric discharge machines (EDM)

EDM also known as spark machining, or spark eroding is a non-traditional method that removes material from a workpiece by using thermal energy. While typically a slower process than traditional machining methods, EDM’s benefit is that it offers a more repeatable process with higher accuracy and fine surface finishes. Tolerances of +/- 0.005 can be achieved and thinly walled shapes can be cut without distortion.
